1st trip

Okay, so we picked up Boldlygo, our travel trailer, in October, 2006. Remember the last time you bought a new car and you couldn't wait until the next morning so that you could drive it? If you're like me, you keep looking out the window at the driveway where your new toy is parked. you go to bed late and possibly go out and sit in your new vehicle while reading the owners manual and sniffing that new car smell. Well let me tell you, it's no different when you purchase a new RV (Recreational Vehicle). Above is a pic of Boldlygo, ready to get hooked up and towed away from the RV dealer's lot.
For any of you who have ever purchased an RV, you know that the salesman, or his designated subordinate, goes through all of the systems and how they work before they send you off on your way. This includes (if applicable), how to work the air conditioner, the heater, the stove and oven, the microwave, the TV antenna, etc, etc. The problem is, all of that goes by so quickly that it is difficult to retain everthing that they said. No problem for us though . . . I'm a pretty mechanically inclined fellow and my beautiful wife is more than happy to watch me fumble around with all of the new gadgets.
So anyhow, we towed Boldlygo home and parked her in the driveway, backing in to the carefully prepared spot for her to sit when not on the road. Now, it was OUR turn to play with all of the features that the salesgoof tried to explain to us. But FIRST, we wanted to actually USE our Boldlygo . . . the microwave, the TV, the DVD PLAYER!! No, we didn't use the bed . . . that would come later and is not open to discussion :-) What we DID do though, was to order a pizza. A pizza? Yup, a pizza. We ordered a Dominoes pizza and ate it while watching Blazing Saddles on the DVD! Now, our neighbors probably thought that we had lost our minds . . . but hey, remember what I said about the new car excitement in the first paragraph? Yep, we had to sit in our Boldlygo. We had to smell that new RV smell (it's not that great, since it is left over formaldehyde from the manufacturing process). We had to sit in it while reading the manual.
But now we NEEDED SOMEPLACE TO GO CAMPING!!

First Post

Okay, since we have started piling up a fair number of adventures, I thought it was time to start sharing and tracking our trips.
But first, a little about us. I am Ronald, but I go by my middle name which is Dean. My wife is Sandra, but she goes by the name of Sandy. Confused yet? If so, just remember that we are Dean & Sandy.

Here is a pic of my ugly mug, alongside of my most delicious wife, Sandy.

So, what's this blog all about? Notice that the name of the blog is "Boldlygo". Boldlygo is the name of our 2006 Cruiser RV FunFinder, model 189-FBR travel trailer. This little gem is our 'home away from home' and the nucleus of numerous travel adventures. It has a nice (if small) bathroom with shower, a queen size bed, dinette, television with DVD, AM-FM stereo with CD player, etc. . . . in short, it has everything one needs for a comfortable week or two away from home. Here's a picture of our Boldlygo, along with our tow vehicle, a 2004 Dodge Ram 4x4.

Okay, so where did the name Boldlygo come from? It's kind of a convoluted story, but we heard a comedian talking about one of his buddies and how this particular gent thought that 'boldlygo' was a planet. How did this genius come up with that? According to the comedian, it was from watching Star Trek . . . remember, they went to "boldlygo, where no man has gone before". Corny, I know . . . however, we felt it was the perfect name for our (at that time) newly purchased adventure mobile. So just like Captain Kirk et.al. in Star Trek, we "Boldly Go" in our 'Boldlygo'.

So, since the purpose of this blog is to chronicle our adventures, let's get started. This will be an ongoing project as we pile the miles on Boldlygo and seek out new frontiers to explore. Have fun looking through our site and by all means, if you have a comment, drop us a line!
